Have You Experienced Insecurity?
Having security is a very important part of being alive. To me, security means safety, shelter, and basic human needs are consistently met. It can be as simple as being able to say the statements “I feel safe” and “I have what I need.” I hope these two very important statements are true for you. I can say that is the case for me now, unfortunately, it is not true for many indigenous villagers in Vietnam, such as my sister and her children.
I need your help to increase my sister’s basic security. One simple way that we can do this is by building a fence to protect her family and her ability to sustain a livelihood.
My sister, H’No, who is six years older than I am, has five children. She is still living in my home village in South Vietnam. She and her family live in unimaginable levels of insecurity. Without a durable fence around her home, she and her family are susceptible to being robbed. Crops and livestock including chickens, dogs, pigs and cows, as well as other material goods such as bicycles, are often stolen. It is nearly impossible to deter thieves without secure locks and a fenced-in yard.
Throughout our childhood, we had the unfortunate experience of thieves stealing livestock, crops and material goods. It happened on an ongoing basis. There is not a single family member that hasn’t gotten their valuables stolen because of ungated homes. One by one, we have built more secure homes and fenced-in yards.
I am fortunate to not live in that constant fear anymore. My sister and her children can’t say the same. That is why I want to help provide her funds to buy bricks, cement and metal rods to build a secure fence for her and her children.
I am looking to raise $1000 US dollars for materials and labor to build a fence for H’No. If 50 people give just $20 we can do it. If $20 will not sacrifice your security, your safety, shelter, or basic needs, then please join me in this campaign. Then, share it with your friends, so we can share the abundant resources that we have with those in dire need.
Thank you!
