Covid Relief Fundraiser
Urgent funds are needed to help Cental Highlands villagers in Vietnam amidst devastating Covid-19 lockdown conditions. We call on our generous community once again to donate if you can and thank you to our dedicated supporters.
Everyday, I get an update from my family in Vietnam about the conditions. For over a month, everyone was in a strict lockdown due to the Covid-19 delta variant. No one was allowed to go outside of their homes without a pass. The roads were barricaded with barbed wire and objects to prevent people from entering and exiting the village. This community's primary source of income is farming. Without the ability to go to work at their farmlands, they quickly found they did not have enough food to feed their families. Many villagers are suffering from the lack of basic necessities, such as food and water.
This recent week, we sent $2600 to over 14 different families to help with food and formula for the babies. One of the families we were able to help just lost a young mother of 31 years old to breast cancer 11 months ago. She is survived by her 5 children, two of whom are living with disabilities, one with down syndrome and one with partial paralysis. One of the family members sent me a message to express her sincere gratitude. She is from the B'Nong tribe. She wrote in Vietnamese, it translates, “I don't know what to say other than thank you for what you have given us, I'm very surprised, while I don't have a dime to buy things for the kids, now we have what you gave us, I am so very happy. Our family thanks you very much.”
It is devastating to witness the suffering of our community. Those of us in the US who have enough to eat and fulfil our basic necessities can help by extending our generosity. Financial support is something that we can offer to ease their pain. They are grateful for any help that we can give them. Please consider donating $20 or more and sharing our campaign with a friend.
Since the start of Covid-19, my two sisters, a younger brother and I combined have donated around $65,000 to support our community overseas. We are proud of what we have done, and know that it is still not enough. Many villagers need assistance, so even this amount is spread thin. Your contribution can make a difference in the lives of these people.
